Now I usually don’t stray too far from the topic of painting but today was just a little different. With the weather exhibiting classic ‘Indian Summer’ tendencies it was only right that we tripped over to Birmingham as my old student pal’s son was playing at the Arts Festival. Adam accompanied the singer D’lys on stage and they both played a fine set over the early afternoon slot.
On our way back from their slot we bumped into the crazy Samba outfit ‘Someone At The Door’…comprising a, and I hope they don’t mind this description too much, motley crew from Bromsgrove in Warwickshire…
Later on in the evening we had made our way back to Nottingham in time for the culminating performance of a day of music and dance as part of the World Event For Young Artists. The highlight of an excellent piece entitled ‘Mandala’ was a short set from the Tabla master Talvin Singh.
Fabulous day of live music across continents, cultures and ages…terrific stuff!
